Lyonesse : les isles anciennes
Lyonesse is a fantasy cycle in 3 volumes: Suldrun's garden published in 1983, The green pearl in 1985 and ends with Madouc (1989). The action takes place on the ancient archipelago of the Old Isles supposed to be located in the current Bay of Biscay between Ireland and Cantabrian Spain.
The archipelago is divided into several feudal kingdoms with the unstable equilibrium the largest being the kingdom of Lyonesse. The royal families are plotting and agitating under the evil gaze of powerful wizards who are amusing themselves with stirring the human anthill, while in the deep woods and forests, fairies and goblins lead their facetious lives indifferent to the agitation of men. *****
